Hello and welcome to the Illuminate Psych blog!

I am delighted to share some big news: after several rewarding years providing therapy in the United States, I am relocating my practice to the Netherlands. This transition marks an exciting new chapter, and I’m eager to continue supporting young adults and international students—now with a deeper understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities that come with living abroad.

A Strong Foundation: Experience Supporting Young Adults and University Students in the US

Before moving to the Netherlands, I spent years working with young adults and university students in the United States. In campus counseling centers and private practice, I helped clients navigate academic stress, anxiety, depression, identity development, relationship challenges, and the complexities of emerging adulthood. I witnessed firsthand the resilience, creativity, and growth that can arise during this transformative stage of life.

My clinical experience has taught me how crucial it is to offer a safe, supportive space where young people can explore their goals, values, and challenges. I am passionate about providing therapy that is not only evidence-based but also tailored to the unique needs of each individual—whether they’re struggling with adjustment, seeking direction, or simply wanting to thrive.

My Own Journey Moving Abroad

This move to the Netherlands is more than a professional transition—it’s also a personal one. Like many of my clients, I am experiencing the excitement and uncertainty of relocating to a new country. From navigating unfamiliar systems and cultures to building new routines and relationships, I understand the mix of emotions that comes with such a significant change.

My own journey has deepened my empathy for international students and expats, and it inspires my commitment to helping others adapt and flourish in their new environment. I know how important it is to have support during times of transition, and I am dedicated to creating a therapeutic space that recognizes and honors these experiences.

A Focus on Online Therapy: Accessible, Evidence-Based Care

Now based in the Netherlands, I am offering online therapy designed specifically for young adults and international students. My approach integrates evidence-based modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based interventions. Each treatment plan is personalized, ensuring that therapy meets you where you are—emotionally, culturally, and practically.

Online therapy provides flexibility and convenience, allowing you to access support from anywhere in the Netherlands. My goal is to make it as easy as possible for you to get the help you need, no matter your schedule or location.
